The 5th edition of the annual Woman Rising by The Life House run by the co-Founder Ugoma Adegoke was a spectacular event that celebrated International Women’s day by inspiring and influencing women through a series of events. It was a chance for successful hard working women to connect and network.


Woman Rising 2015 was a two day event held on Saturday, the 21st of March 2015 and Sunday, the 22nd of March 2015 and was hosted by Kemi Lala Akindoju and Aderonke Adebanjo.
 
The first event, sponsored by Bollinger took place at the prestigious Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi. The event hosted the likes of Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, the former Minister of Education who gave an amazing speech on how women can make a change in our world by not settling for what people think we should be and Chief Mrs Oyenike Okundaye,one of the most respected internationally known female artist from Nigeria, who has made astounding strides in textile, visual arts and mixed media painting.
 
At The Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, sponsored by Ours magazine was the screening of the award-winning documentary film “The Supreme Price” directed by Joanna Lipper. The film explores the history of Nigeria as it tells the remarkable story of Hafsat Abiola, daughter of human rights heroine Kudirat Abiola, and Nigeria's President-elect M.K.O. Abiola, who won a historic vote in 1993 that promised to put an end to years of military dictatorship.The thought provoking film opened the minds of guests and triggered forward thinking conversations on how women can help make Nigeria better and the future of female leaders in a country where men have always ruled.
 
The final event was held at Federal Palace, Victoria Island Lagos. Sponsored by SKY vodka, the eventful evening showcased a host of homegrown and international female musicians. Rolake Akinkugbe an oil and gas investment banker by day pianist and songstress by night, Modele with her amphibious sound also wowed the crowd as well as Tonye Garrick,Bumi Thomas with her sultry sound and Irene Bill aka girl with bass and a host of other live female musicians.
 
The fun-filled evening was touched by poets and guest speakers that entertained the varied crowed of CEOs, artists, and supporters of the cause.
