We saw several 90s inspired trends create a stir on the spring runways, however the slip dress (or camisole dress as it is otherwise known) that was one of the most ubiquitous.

A surprising amount of top designers showcased the simple silhouette which is characterized by skinny spaghetti straps and a straight-cut bodice.  They were everywhere in various lengths and colors, all with a distinctly minimal look and feel.

There are elements of the ‘90s style resurgence that I think are best left forgotten but others truly merit a resurrection, such as the iconic slip dress. The minimalist, sultry frock offers an ideal way to show off your physique in an effortless chic manner which renders it a favorite of style icons such as Kate Moss, Zoe Kravitz, Nicole Ritchie and Rihanna.

So you (and trust me, almost every other woman reading this) would probably be wondering:  “How does one wear a slip dress without looking like they just stepped out of their boudoir?”, “How do I exude class and  elegance in a slip dress?” “Wouldn’t I looked like I’m wearing my nightie?”

Here are some tips to pulling off the slinky number:

If you feel slightly exposed in spaghetti straps, feel free to add layers on under or on top of the slip dress. You’ll still get a peek of the slinky frock, but feel more confident, which is key to pulling off the look.

You’ll want something to kind of "anchor" the flimsy dress so it doesn't feel so...boudoir. Throw on a flannel/plaid or denim shirt unbuttoned, tied at the waist country-girl style, or tied around your waist to give your slip dress a more casual feel.

A cross-body bag always feels like the most relaxed option. Flats are key for achieving a laid-back look.  Gladiator sandals are my favorite to pair with the slip dress.

The diaphanous frock looks awesome when styled with a sharp tuxedo coat or fitted blazer and classic pumps for a sophisticated effect.

If you’re brave, you can wear totally see-through camisole dress with well structured black high waist shorts and a bralet/ bandeau top. Not only will you look great but you will also be nailing the underwear as outerwear + slip dress trend all in one neat fashionable package. What a fashion bombshell!

A statement accessory like a chain-fringe clutch, furry scarf/wrap, a bogus hat and oversized sunglasses are guaranteed conversation starters.

You might want to try chunky heels or mules while out on the town with the slip dress.

And finally, I suggest you keep the makeup light and fresh to keep the look chic and modern.
